29 Gallon

Introduction 55 Gallon 30 Gallon 29 Gallon 14 Gallon 10 Gallon shrimp tank 5 Gallon fry 2 1/2 Gallon R.I.P. DIY CO2

The 29 gallon was my first actual aquarium other than the little prison referred to as a betta bowl.  It was a Christmas gift from my wife and is my "show tank".  It was set up on January 1, 2007.  I've changed the gravel out once, rearranged and removed decor, substituted plastic plants with real ones (mainly those that don't require a lot of light, CO2, and ferlizers).

I cycled this tank with four rosy reds then bought some Serpae and neon tetras, and Indian Glassfish.  This is the first, last, and only time I will cycle a tank using fish.  You learn from experience, I guess.

Current fish include:

  • two pearl gouramies
  • one Indian glassfish
  • two albino cories
  • one Schwartz's cory
  • one pleco
  • one kuhli loach
  • several ghost shrimp
  • one red Glofish
  • one angelfish

The  Glassfish is the only surviving fish from the original stock.

My plants are:

  • hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum)
  • java moss
  • java fern (Microsorum pteropus)

I am using a 100w Visa-therm Stealth heater and a Hagen AquaClear 50 filter.
